Arthritis Australia and Livewire have launched a partnership to help young people affected by arthritis and their families find peer support online.

Livewire, a subsidiary of the Children's Starlight Foundation, has created an online community for families affected by a serious illness, chronic health condition or disability.  Focusing on the estimated 450,000 children and young people aged over 10 and under 21 years, Livewire now has over 6,000 members including parents and the siblings of the affected members.

The partnership will allow Arthritis Australia to coordinate engagement activities to better support young people living with arthritis and their families.

The timing of this announcement coincides with Arthritis Australia's launch of a new information booklet
Stepping Out - a guide for young adults with arthritis.  It is specifically designed to contain input from young people with arthritis who have overcome many of the same challenges others may be facing today.

Arthritis Australia's ambassadors will soon be guests in the Livewire chat room to share their stories of life with arthritis.

Livewire has formed over 45 affiliate partnerships with not-for-profit organisations to allow their members to safely connect online. This has resulted in several collaborative activities including content sharing, chat room hosting, events, workshops & camps, mail outs and more.
